The Roma Girl Association was founded in 2010 in the primary court of Banja Luka, with its seat in Prnjavor with the aim of encouraging Roma women to take an active part in social and political life. The Roma Girl Association works with the association team in the municipalities of Vukosavlje, Doboj and Prnjavor. It has been working to inform Roma families, educate them and provide them with the basic rights that they are entitled to by law. Since its founding, it has implemented over 50 projects to date: addressing infrastructure in Roma communities, eliminating wild dumps, preventive screening for women and men for the early detection of tumor diseases, prevention of pordic violence and use of available mechanisms, assistance to children in education, scholarships, purchase of school supplies and books, education with children Healthy lifestyles, etc.
Also, in the municipality of Prnjavor, on the initiative of the association, an intersectoral commission (consisting of representatives of all institutions at the local level and a team of Romasian girl association) was established to solve the problems of Roma families in the municipality of Prnjavor. We have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the municipality of Prnjavor. We have two Roma mediators. We have developed an action plan for solving the problems of Roma and Roma women in Prnjavor municipality in the field of housing, health care, education, employment of Roma and preservation of the cultural heritage of Roma. The Roma girl received an award and a “Thank You” note from the municipality of Prnjavor for preserving the Roma culture and history, as well as for the work of the association.
From 2017 to 2019, we took over 200 women for screening for early detection of cervical cancer and breast cancer, and over 50 men for screening for colon and prostate cancer. We have economically empowered and educated over 50 women to take part in the development of decoupage techniques (psychological assistance for victims of domestic violence). We are the only ones in BiH who have their decoupage works with Roma motifs and we have them at various fairs. We have two Roma mediators (one Roma mediator was employed by a social work center) As members of the Alliance of National Minorities, we have been organizing for 10 years the Festival of National Minorities of the Municipality of Prnjavor, which is unique in BiH. We participated in the development of documents for solving the problems of the Roma population (local action plans, revision of national action plans) We participate in the development of a strategy for Roma women in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Mrs. Mirković, President of the Roma Girl Association, activist, humanist and award-winning peacekeeper. Member of the Committee on Roma, at the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She participated in the revision of the action plan for solving the problems of the Roma of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Participated in the development of the local action plan and in the revision of the local action plan for solving Roma problems in the municipality of Prnjavor. an initiator for the decoupage of works with Roma motives and for the preservation of Roma cultural heritage in the municipality of Prnjavor.
