Phiren Amenca (MNE)
Roma Youth Organization (RYO) Phiren Amenca is established in 2014 by Roma High school and University students and it is led by Roma student. Even though a relatively new NGO in Montenegro, Phiren Amenca commitment and professionalism have already position the organisation as one of the most vocal when it comes to social inclusion of Roma community in Montenegro, especially Roma youth that are in process of high school and university education. As an organisation, Phiren Amenca cooperates with different actors that are working on social inclusion of Roma community.
When it comes to Roma identity and cultural heritage Phiren Amenca cooperates with Ministry of Human and minority rights (in 2017, Phiren Amenca, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Ministry for Human and Minority Right). When it comes to Youth activism and youth policy Phiren Amenca cooperates with different NGO in Montenegro. Until this year in Podgorica when it comes to Youth activism and youth policy through system of non-formal education, we have implemented different workshops and training on the topic of human rights and activism aimed on capacity buildings of Roma youth to become active members in their community in order of social inclusion of Roma. We also have organised national conferences regarding Roma youth activism and youth policy.
In 2018, Phiren Amenca started working on strenghtening capacities of youth in five municipalities (Niksic, Berane, Ulcinj, Bar and Herceg Novi) with the aim of establishing a network of young activists who will work on social inclusion of the Roma community in Montenegrin society.
- In 2017, We have organised first ever summer school for Roma Highschool and University student on the topic of “Roma Identity” Signed Memorandum of cooperation with Ministry for Human and Minority Right.
- We launched “RomaNet” first web media portal in Montenegro.
- In march 2019, member of our organisation has received an EU award called “Unknown heroes“.
- We have organised first national conferences regarding Roma youth activism and youth policy.
- We have help more than 115 Roma families to enter the process of legalisation of informal facilities.
Mr. Beriša is one of the founders of Phiren Amenca, and currently in charge of the organisation as the Executive Director. Has expertise in different field when it comes to Roma inclusion. Till now, has worked for different institutions and organisations in Montenegro such as: Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration – Directorate for Programming and Monitoring of EU Pre-Accession Instruments, REF – Roma Education Fund, Council of Europe, CEDEM – Center for Democracy and Human Rights. Presenter of the first talk show called “U lavirintu” (In the Maze) on TV station “Vijesti”. Has expertise in writing and implementing projects related to Roma inclusion. Has participated in creating the national Strategy for Social Inclusuon of Roma and Egyptian 2016 – 2020. He is member of Task Force for creating a Local Action Plan for Social Inclusion in Capital City Podgorica.
